Shepard Meadows relies on our many volunteers to be successful! Whether you have one to several hours per week, we have a job for you!
We believe that our volunteers benefit from spending time at our farm, helping directly in program with participants, with facilities or barn chores. Our beautiful and peaceful farm is a respite for all.
*As of 9/1/2021 our general volunteer program is full and we are not accepting new volunteers with the EXCEPTION of:
1) Morning Chores (8-10:00 AM daily)
2) Individuals with horse experience to tack, lead and otherwise work with our horses in program
3) Property maintenance, such as lawn mowing
The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years of age. If an individual qualifies to be a participant in our therapeutic program, they are usually ineligible to volunteer.
To begin volunteering with us, please complete and submit your volunteer application via email or mail to our Volunteer Coordinator using the button below.
Each and every volunteer is required to attend our Orientation and Training Session, which is held on the first Monday of the month. There are additional training sessions held on consecutive Mondays for sidewalkers, leaders and individuals to groom and tack horses for lessons.
We welcome volunteer groups from outside organizations. There is always much work to do at the farm! From United Way Day of Caring, to ESPN, Webster Bank, Gilbane, or GE – we appreciate the help to make major improvements to our property.
