About the event
Join us for our three-part series on caring for horses in winter! You’ll learn tips on managing health, condition, behavior, feed, and more through seasonal changes and unpredictable weather, presented by SMEC’s Volunteer Training Manager, Laura Patrick. Each talk will cover a different topic and will have hands-on time as well. Come to 1, 2, or all 3!
January 27th – Grooming for Health (skin & coat health, mane & tail management in dry, cold weather, caring for skin conditions)
February 10th- The Senior Horse in Winter (managing joint stiffness, turnout adjustments, feed changes)
February 24th- Winter Workouts (adjusting exercise sessions for extreme temperatures, importance of aftercare, warm up & cool down)
